Google for Education at BETT 2026 Highlights
We were delighted to attend BETT 2026 at ExCeL London, the flagship global EdTech conference, where we reconnected with familiar faces and met inspiring leaders, educators, and innovators from across the sector. The reception from the Google for Education team was genuinely warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a standout experience.
The Google for Education stand was beautifully designed and thoughtfully curated, with excellent lighting and a compelling programme of talks throughout the event. Each session was well structured, clearly focused, and packed with practical takeaways. Credit goes to Andrew, Jessica and the wider team for assembling a diverse lineup of speakers who shared meaningful, actionable insights and sparked thoughtful conversation across the community. Was amazing!

The Google for Education team also showcased a range of hands-on products, offering valuable opportunities to see their tools in action. It was particularly encouraging to see how students are actively embracing AI, and how this is being supported through Google’s full-stack Gemini ecosystem. Tools such as Google’s Nano Banana, which enables the creation of high-fidelity visuals, demonstrated the practical and creative potential of these technologies. The session also highlighted innovative applications across Google’s broader suite of AI tools, reinforcing their impact in real classroom and learning contexts.

From a higher education perspective, the standout innovation was a relatively new product: NotebookLM. This powerful tool positions itself as a research and thinking partner, grounded in information you trust and built on the latest Gemini models. What sets NotebookLM apart is its ability to work directly with your own materials — your research documents, PDFs, presentations, and even videos — rather than relying on generic data sources.
In practice, NotebookLM delivers meaningful insights that help users listen, learn, and organise complex ideas with clarity. It offers an intuitive way to structure thinking while ensuring that ownership of data remains firmly with the individual. A special thank you to Andrew for the hands-on walkthrough; NotebookLM feels refreshingly different from traditional Google products — best described as a dedicated AI research partner designed for serious academic work.
